Britain’s Oldest Teenager is a character-led short comedy that tells a lighthearted story with a deeper message at its heart. While the tone is playful, the film explores something far more serious — loneliness, not just in old age, but among younger people too.
I worked as the producer, sound mixer, and sound designer on this project, helping bring together a story that uses humour and contrast to spark reflection. Our central character is quirky and defiant, refusing to “act their age,” and through their interactions, the film subtly uncovers how connection — or the lack of it — shapes us all.
Sound played a key role in building the world of the film, from lively moments of absurdity to the more intimate silences that sit between the characters.. As sound designer and mixer, I aimed to balance the comedy with emotional nuance, using sound not just for laughs, but to underline what’s left unsaid.
Britain’s Oldest Teenager was a joy to work on, and a great example of how even short films can blend humour with heart.
